Pennsylvania Intellectual Property Forum

This is the home page of the Pennsylvania Intellectual Property Forum ("PA IP Forum").  The PA IP Forum is an organization of patent lawyers and other attorneys interested in patents, copyrights, trademarks and generally the protection of ideas and creations.  Most participants in the PA IP Forum are located in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Members:

Advocacy and Lobbying:

Follow this link to a history of our advocacy activities and to related documents.

The Pennsylvania IP Forum provides comment and lobbies Congress and the PTO on intellectual property matters affecting individual inventors and small business.  Large businesses have clout in Washington and have lobbyists and organizations looking out for their interests.  Individual inventors and small businesses have few advocates in the area of patents.  Our mission is to provide a voice for small business and individual inventors.

Officers:

Robert J. Yarbrough has been chairman of the Pennsylvania Intellectual Property forum since 1998.  Deborah Logan is the Legislation Chairman.  Stuart Bowie is the Government Relations Chairman.  Both Ms. Logan and Mr. Bowie are leaders of the advocacy program of the PA IP Forum.

Continuing Education:

Each month we meet and hear a presentation from one of our members on an intellectual property law issue.  All meetings are completely free and everyone is welcome.

The members of the forum usually meet on the first Thursday of each month at 12:00 noon in the conference room at 201 North Jackson Street, Media, PA 19063.  The meetings are brown bag, so bring your lunch.  We try to begin promptly at 12:00 noon and end promptly at 1:00 pm.   Our schedule may change, and frequently does change, so call or email before you come.  Pennsylvania continuing legal education credit is available for our meetings, but will not help if you are up against a CLE deadline.  We apply for CLE credit for all of the meetings held during a year after the end of the year, so a lag of several months always exists between attending a meeting and obtaining CLE credit.

Our presenters frequently prepare written materials to accompany their presentations.  Follow this link to articles and written materials submitted by presenters.  As indicated, all meetings are free and non-members are welcome to attend.

Speakers' Bureau:

The Pennsylvania IP Forum sponsors a speakers' bureau to provide speakers on intellectual property topics to inventors, civic, business and arts organizations in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Northern Delaware.
